WELL, THE DOUGLAS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS TWO PEOPLE WERE BOOKED ON LOOTING CHARGES. DEPUTIES RESPONDED TO A CALL OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE NEAR 216TH AND FORT LAST NIGHT. THE CAR HAD GONE AROUND THE ROAD, CLOSED AND NO TRESPASSING BARRICADES AND SIGNS. DEPUTIES SAY THEY SEARCHED A PASSENGER IN THE CAR AND THEY FOUND A PRY BAR. FLASH LIGHT AND WORK GLOVE IN HIS POCKET. THEY ALSO FOUND A PAIR OF WIRE CUTTERS IN THE CAR AND A BAGGIE OF SUSPECTED METHAMPHETAMINE. THEY LATER FOUND THE CAR’S DRIVER WALKING ON FORT STREET IN THE RESTRICTED AREA. THE PASSENGER, ALEJANDRO VERA, ALLEGEDLY GAVE A FALSE NAME. HE WAS BOOKED FOR CRIMINAL AND PERSONATION BURGLARY TOOLS AND POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, ALONG WITH TWO OUTSTANDING WARRANTS. THE DRIVER, SHANE SYRIAN, WAS CITED FOR TRESPASSING. NOW THE DOUGLAS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE AND NEBRASKA STATE PATROL ARE PROVIDING EXTRA SECURITY TO THOSE AREAS IMPACTED BY TORNADOES.
