(WPRI) — Two people were arrested Monday after leading Massachusetts State Police on a high-speed chase in a stolen car.

State police said the Lexus was stolen out of Peabody and the suspects initially got away from several local police departments.

The State Police Air Wing helicopter eventually spotted the Lexus, allowing troopers to pick it up on Route 117 in Bolton and follow it onto I-495 South.

The vehicle then entered Route 290 West in Marlboro, where troopers set up spike strips to stop it. After driving over those, the suspects crashed into another vehicle before coming to a stop in the median, according to state police.

Three people were removed from the vehicle, which state police said had been involved in an earlier crash with two other cars in Marlboro.

A 15-year-old from Lawrence is facing multiple charges, including unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, leaving the scene of property damage, and failing to stop for police. Massachusetts State Police said the male was booked at the State Police Leominster Barracks and then released to his mother.

One of the passengers, 20-year-old Kyan Perez of Fitchburg, has been charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle, as well as providing a false name to police. Perez was treated for minor injuries at UMass Lakeside and booked at Leominster Barracks late Monday night, according to state police. He is being held without bail at the Worcester House of Corrections.

Both males were scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday.

State police said Perez is also facing separate charges out of Beverly for larceny of a motor vehicle, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, and receiving a stolen credit card.

Massachusetts State Police identified the third occupant of the stolen car as a 20-year-old woman from Danvers. She was treated for minor injuries at UMass Lakeside and released. She will receive a summons for receiving a stolen motor vehicle, police said, but was not taken into custody.

This article has been updated to correct the name of the 20-year-old passenger, who initially provided a false name and age to Massachusetts State Police.
