6 arrested for several crimes against children, sex acts

FLORIDA, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police conducted a multi-day investigation in the Town of Florida that ended in six arrests for several crimes against children and sex acts. The Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce (ICAC) aided the investigation.

Scott Simmons (56, Johnstown), Zachary Nawotniak (22, Queensbury), Samuel Schultz (56, Amsterdam), Tasean Booth (32, Schenectady), Denis Omuriuki (35, Cohoes), and Erick DeJesus-Rosa (30, Amsterdam) each face several charges.

Simmons Charges:

Possessing a sexual performance by a child
Promotion of a sexual performance by a child

Simmons was arraigned at the Johnstown City Court. He was taken to the Fulton County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000 cash, a $30,000 bond, or a $80,000 partially secured bond.

Nawotniak Charges:

Second-degree patronizing a prostitute
Second-degree attempted rape
Second-degree attempted criminal sex act

Nawotniak was taken to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.

Schultz Charges:

Second-degree attempted rape
Second-degree patronizing a prostitute
Second-degree criminal mischief
Third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle
Second-degree reckless endangerment

Schultz was taken to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility to await arraignment. New York State Police say Schultz is a level three sex offender.

Booth Charges:

Second-degree patronizing a prostitute
Second-degree criminal mischief
Third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle
Second-degree reckless endangerment
Endangering the welfare of a child

State Police say more charges are anticipated against Booth and that he is a three-time convicted felon with other arrests. Booth was arraigned in the Florida Town Court and is held at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility without bail.
