Welcome to Arrest Stories. A forty-one-year-old teacher and coach at a Pinellas Park charter school faces charges of lewd or lascivious conduct after allegedly using his position to develop inappropriate relationships with female students. Here's what may have happened.
On February third, two thousand twenty-five, detectives with the Pinellas Park Police Department arrested Brett A. Caskey in Pinellas Park, Florida. Caskey worked as both a teacher and coach at Pinellas Park Plato Academy, located at nine thousand two hundred forty-nine Street North.
According to police reports, Caskey allegedly used his coaching position to gain the trust of female students and create opportunities for continued contact with them. The investigation revealed that Caskey purchased clothing and food for students as part of developing personal relationships with them.
The alleged inappropriate conduct occurred on school grounds at Plato Academy. Police say Caskey kissed a female student while she was sitting on his lap inside his classroom. In another incident, while the student was applying makeup to Caskey in the classroom, he allegedly rubbed the outside of her thighs over her clothing.
The timeline of alleged misconduct spans several months. From August two thousand twenty-four to mid-August two thousand twenty-five, Caskey allegedly purchased food and clothing for the victim. Between late May two thousand twenty-five and August two thousand twenty-five, police say Caskey sent images of his genitals to the victim.
Plato Academy Schools received notification of the allegations through a Fortify Florida tip prior to the winter holiday. School administration stated they placed Caskey on immediate leave upon receiving the tip and reported the matter to DCF.
The school released a statement saying, "Plato Academy Schools is deeply committed to the safety and well-being of our students. We take all allegations regarding employee conduct with the utmost seriousness." The statement continued, "Mr. Caskey has not been an employee of Plato Academy since we were first notified of the concern."
Caskey has not yet been given bail following his arrest on charges of lewd or lascivious conduct.
