CONROE JUDGES DWI ARREST COMPLICATED BY ONE ADDITIONAL CHARGE

Welcome to Arrest Stories. A Conroe municipal judge faces charges for driving while intoxicated and unlawfully carrying a weapon after being arrested by Montgomery Police. Here's what may have happened.

On a Wednesday morning in Montgomery County, Texas, thirty-four-year-old William Waggoner was taken into custody by the Montgomery Police Department on McCowan Street. Waggoner, who serves as a Conroe municipal judge, was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on charges of driving while intoxicated and unlawful carrying of a weapon.

According to police reports, Waggoner allegedly had a handgun in his possession when arrested for suspicion of DWI. Under Texas law, someone can receive an unlawful carrying of a weapon charge if they are caught with a weapon when arrested for a misdemeanor. As of eight in the morning following his arrest, Waggoner was still listed on the jail roster.

Waggoner was elected as Conroe's municipal judge in June two thousand twenty-two after defeating Meloney Turner in a runoff election that was prompted by the retirement of Judge Mike Davis. In October, just one week before his arrest, Waggoner announced his campaign for Montgomery County Justice of the Peace for Precinct One in two thousand twenty-six.

City officials released a statement acknowledging the arrest, saying "The City is aware that our Municipal Judge, Will Waggoner, was arrested early this morning for a possible DWI and UCW. No one is above the law, or immune from making mistakes. It is an unfortunate incident and as with any arrest, one is not guilty until proven so. Judge Waggoner is an elected official and he is still the sitting Municipal Judge. We will not comment on the facts of the case."

Despite the charges, Waggoner has returned to the bench while awaiting his day in court. When approached by reporters, Waggoner stated he would provide a statement in the future. His arraignment is scheduled for January fifth.

All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
