Welcome to Arrest Stories. We're covering the arrest of Jason Brauner in San Diego County in connection with an elaborate medical equipment theft scheme. Here's what may have happened.
According to police reports, the forty-seven-year-old allegedly wore blue scrubs and a surgical mask to blend in with hospital personnel, reportedly gaining access to restricted areas of medical facilities while posing as legitimate staff. The investigation began on July ninth when deputies responded to a theft call at a hospital on the thirty-five thousand block of Bob Hope Drive in Rancho Mirage shortly after three-thirty in the afternoon. Police say Brauner allegedly stole surgical equipment and skin grafts worth more than one hundred thousand dollars over three separate incidents, targeting hospitals in Loma Linda and Newport Beach for similar thefts.
On August sixth, San Diego County Sheriff's deputies conducted a traffic stop in Del Mar after Brauner's vehicle was spotted traveling southbound toward San Diego. During the search of his vehicle, officers allegedly discovered stolen medical equipment and hospital apparel inside his car. Investigators then obtained a search warrant for his residence in San Jacinto, where they reportedly recovered additional stolen medical supplies valued between ten thousand and twenty-five thousand dollars. Officials stated that Brauner allegedly "gained access to restricted areas of the facility while dressed as hospital staff" and emphasized that "there may be additional victims" as "coordinated efforts with investigators in those jurisdictions have identified Brauner as a suspect in those cases as well."
Brauner was booked on charges including grand theft, possession of stolen property, four counts of grand theft, and three counts of burglary, with bail set at one hundred thousand dollars. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
