FLORIDA MAN THREATENS RON DESANTIS; HIS BIRTH CERTIFICATE PHOTO LED TO HIS ARREST

Welcome to Arrest Stories. A thirty-nine-year-old Florida man was arrested without bond after allegedly posting death threats against Governor Ron DeSantis on social media. Here's what may have happened.

On January twelfth, Daniel Joseph Cook was taken into custody in Volusia County on charges of threatening death or serious bodily harm to an elected official. The arrest stemmed from threatening posts Cook allegedly made on the X social media platform using the account handle @D13Xiii.

According to police reports, Cook posted a threatening message on November seventh that read, "Hey prick @GovRonDeSantis. You are both a bozo and a Bonzo. And miss Attorney General Pam Bondi will kill you in court. While I laugh. F— you, Ron DeSantis, Omerta, I will kill you. Don't worry, you will die, pig."

The New York Attorney General's Office alerted the Florida Department of Law Enforcement about Cook's threatening post on November seventh. An FDLE special agent reviewed the account and discovered additional posts referencing DeSantis. Cook had claimed in previous posts that the governor targeted him by making a bill that anyone with the same name as his was to be arrested or eliminated, writing, "You f— my reputation, while simultaneously being a prick in such ways as to make a targeted law with my name on it."

Investigators identified Cook through subpoenas sent to X and Apple, which provided his email address, phone number, and IP address. The IP address traced back to Edgewater, consistent with Cook's home address. Cook had posted a picture of his birth certificate in July, which helped authorities confirm his identity. The account also contained a video of a man who self-identified as Daniel Joseph Cook.

When police interviewed Cook at his home, he admitted to writing the posts, describing them as an expression of frustration. However, Cook continued making threats even after the police interview, according to investigators.

Cook is being held without bond on the charges.

All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
