FORMER LOUISIANA MAYOR ARRESTED AFTER DOORDASH DRIVERS TESTIMONY

Welcome to Arrest Stories. Former DeRidder, Louisiana mayor Misty Clanton Roberts faces charges of indecent behavior with a juvenile and carnal knowledge of a juvenile after allegedly having sexual relations with a sixteen-year-old boy at a party in July twenty twenty-four. Here's what may have happened.

Forty-three-year-old Misty Roberts was arrested just two days after resigning from her position as mayor of DeRidder, Louisiana. The investigation began when Louisiana State Police investigator Melissa Welch received a call from a lieutenant telling her that a potential victim's mother needed to speak with her.

The victim's mother sent Welch a screenshot of a text message exchange between herself and Roberts. In the messages, the mother asks Roberts if there is a chance she could be pregnant. Roberts replied she was on birth control. One investigator stated, "It gave me the impression that Misty Roberts had some type of sexual encounter with their son."

Court proceedings have faced multiple delays and complications. A previously selected panel of jurors was recalled and formally released from duty after a mistrial was declared while jury selection was still underway. Roberts' attorneys requested a writ with the Third Circuit to quash a previous indictment.

During testimony, a DoorDash driver revealed he delivered Plan B emergency contraception to Roberts' home after the July twenty twenty-four party. The order was placed under the name Misty C. The driver recognized the house because he had previously taken his children there for trick-or-treating.

Roberts' son gave a recorded interview with a child advocacy center in twenty twenty-five, stating he believed he saw his mother and his friend having sex during the July party. However, on the witness stand, Roberts' son testified he could not definitively confirm what he saw.

Defense attorneys have criticized the investigation, claiming the investigator failed to properly document the scene, obtain the victim's clothing for testing, or collect security footage from cameras at Roberts' home.

Roberts maintains her innocence according to her legal team, who stated, "We trust the public will respect her constitutional presumption of innocence which is fundamental to our system of justice."

All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
