Welcome to Arrest Stories. A former Pine Bluff radio personality was arrested after allegedly shooting his girlfriend at a downtown salon and engaging in a nearly two-hour standoff with police. Here's what may have happened.
On December seventeenth, twenty twenty-five, around two twenty in the afternoon, officers were dispatched to a reported shooting at Uptown Salon in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Sixty-eight-year-old Will Jenkins, a former employee of Deltaplex Radio, allegedly shot seventy-one-year-old Lenora Robinson, his longtime girlfriend, before fleeing the scene in a vehicle that witnesses identified.
When officers arrived at the salon, they located Robinson, who had sustained a gunshot wound that was not believed to be life-threatening. Robinson was transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Investigators quickly located Jenkins' vehicle at his residence at four thousand one South Cherry Street. Officers knocked on the door and tried to make contact with Jenkins. According to police, Jenkins talked to officers for a little while from inside the house but refused to come out. Negotiators were called to the scene and made contact with Jenkins for a brief period.
As the standoff continued, police said Jenkins stopped all communication. SWAT officers then deployed CS gas, commonly known as tear gas, into the home in hopes of getting Jenkins to come out voluntarily. One official stated, "They introduced CS gas, which is commonly known as tear gas, into the house, trying to get Mister Jenkins to come out on his own. He still wouldn't communicate. Wouldn't come out of the house."
After trying to get Jenkins to surrender for over two hours, SWAT teams broke down the door and entered the home. Jenkins was found in what officers described as a lethargic state and did not resist arrest. Police said, "He didn't give any resistance. He was in a very lethargic state. We don't know the medical reason for his lethargic state."
Jenkins was taken into police custody and transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center after his arrest.
