HE DRANK THREE SHOTS... THEN CAUGHT A RIDE?

Welcome to Arrest Stories,

A UTEP men's basketball player's life took a dramatic turn on a West El Paso Sunday afternoon when a DWI arrest left everyone stunned.

Trey Horton III was driving on a local highway when the unthinkable happened.

Here's what may have happened.

It was Sunday, November 2, 2025, around three fifteen PM when Trey Horton III's car veered off the road, striking a median in West El Paso, Texas. Horton, a UTEP men's basketball player, claimed that the median "just hit me out of nowhere," but police had a different story. Horton, swaying back and forth, smelled of alcohol, and had glossy, red eyes. He admitted to drinking three shots about an hour before the crash and denied taking the field sobriety test.

According to police reports, Horton said he had three shots about an hour and a half before the incident. When officers arrived, Horton was visibly intoxicated and was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He was released on a $750 personal recognizance bond later that day.

The UTEP men's basketball team has since suspended Horton from all activities until further notice. "UTEP men's basketball is aware of the situation involving Trey Horton and is in the process of gathering more information. At this time, Trey is suspended from all UTEP men's basketball activities until further notice," said a statement from the team.

The incident has left many questioning how a young athlete could let his life spiral out of control. Horton's arrest and subsequent suspension serve as a stark reminder of the consequences of drinking and driving.

All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
