Welcome to Arrest Stories. A Jamaican social media influencer known as Jay Icon and his wife were part of a nine-person retail theft ring that stole nearly one million dollars worth of merchandise from Lululemon stores across the United States. Here's what may have happened.
In January twenty twenty-five, Jadion Anthony Richards, who goes by Jay Icon, and his wife Akwele Nickeisha Lawes-Richards both pleaded guilty to one count of felony organized retail theft in Minnesota. The couple were among nine individuals arrested in connection with a sophisticated retail crime operation targeting Lululemon stores nationwide.
According to police reports, the group stole just shy of five thousand dollars worth of goods from the Lululemon store at Rosedale mall in Roseville. Richards and Lawes-Richards were arrested the day after the Roseville theft when a Lululemon organized retail crime investigator notified police they were spotted at the Woodbury store location.
Law enforcement officials stated that it appeared this group was working together using specific organized retail crime tactics such as blocking and distraction of associates to commit large thefts. When Richards was taken into custody, officers found he had a JW Marriott key card in his possession.
The theft operation extended far beyond Minnesota. In October twenty twenty-four, Richards, his wife, and another unidentified woman stole from eight Lululemon stores along the Front Range in a forty-eight hour period. Between November sixth and seventh twenty twenty-four, the group stole approximately twenty-one thousand dollars in merchandise from six Lululemon stores in Utah.
During one arrest, officers noted that many of the articles of clothing Lawes-Richards was wearing were Lululemon brand items. Richards was held on a ten thousand dollar bond following his arrest.
The case highlights the growing problem of organized retail crime, where groups coordinate sophisticated theft operations across multiple states and store locations.
