MAN BREAKS INTO WASHINGTON STATE CAPITOL THROUGH OFFICE WINDOW

Welcome to Arrest Stories. A twenty-nine-year-old man allegedly wreaked havoc inside Washington State's Capitol Building, toppling historic statues and setting fires before being captured in a dramatic ten-minute rampage. Here's what may have happened.

Sunday evening turned chaotic when Gunnar Schubert allegedly drove his vehicle directly onto the flower bed surrounding the flag circle in front of the Legislative Building at approximately ten fifteen. Within thirty seconds, Washington State Patrol troopers began responding to what would become a destructive spree through one of the nation's most prestigious government buildings.

According to official reports, Schubert broke through a ground floor office window to gain entry. Armed with two hammers, he systematically destroyed property throughout the building, smashing card readers and hand sanitizers mounted on walls. The destruction escalated when he allegedly knocked over a bronze bust of George Washington and damaged a statue of Martin Luther King Junior.

The most alarming incident occurred in an ornate reception room known for hosting heads of state and featuring magnificent Tiffany glass-bead chandeliers, where Schubert allegedly set a fire. Officials described the attack as stemming from a mental health crisis rather than political motivation.

One official stated, "A sad story on all counts — troubled individual does damage to historic building and artifacts. But fortunately, no law enforcement, building users, or the suspect himself were injured."

Another official emphasized the scope of damage, saying, "The entire incident lasted approximately ten minutes from first call to capture. Unfortunately, this is a very large space, and the suspect was able to do significant damage before capture."

Schubert faces charges including arson, burglary, and malicious mischief. He was denied bail following his arrest. His criminal history includes previous breaking and entering convictions in twenty twenty-one and twenty twenty-two. Interestingly, he previously played minor league baseball for the Miami Marlins organization between twenty eighteen and twenty nineteen.

All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
