NEWLY HIRED HIGH SCHOOL COACH ARRESTED AFTER LESS THAN ONE MONTH

Welcome to Arrest Stories. A newly hired high school football coach in Central Florida was arrested on an active warrant from South Florida involving allegations of child solicitation. Here's what may have happened.

On Thursday, February fifth, Seminole County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested thirty-nine-year-old Colby Erskin at the intersection of Lake Mary Boulevard and Botanical Way in Sanford, Florida. Deputies made contact with Erskin and served him an active warrant from Broward County.

The warrant contained two counts related to solicitation of a child and transmission of harmful materials to minors. Erskin was being held without bond following his arrest.

At the time of his arrest, Erskin served as the head football coach at Mount Dora High School in Lake County. The school had recently hosted a meet and greet event for Erskin on January fifteenth, introducing him as their new head football coach to the community.

Lake County Schools acted swiftly after learning of the arrest. On February fifth, the same day as Erskin's arrest, the district dismissed him from his position. A district spokesperson stated, "Mr. Erskin is no longer employed with Lake County Schools. He was dismissed today, while still in his probationary period with the district, after we learned of his arrest."

The arrest warrant originated from Broward County, located in South Florida, several hours away from where Erskin was working in Central Florida. Deputies confirmed that Erskin had an active warrant from Broward County when they made contact with him in Seminole County.

Erskin's next court appearance was scheduled for two o'clock in the afternoon on February sixth. The specific details surrounding the allegations that led to the warrant from Broward County were not immediately available from the Broward County Sheriff's Office.

The timeline shows Erskin's brief tenure with Mount Dora High School lasted less than one month, from his introduction to the community in mid-January to his dismissal in early February.

All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
