Welcome to Arrest Stories.
A 48-year-old man, identified as Scott Singer, has been arrested for alleged petit larceny in Saratoga Springs. Here's what may have happened: Singer, who was previously the Principal of Maple Avenue Middle School, served as treasurer of the Saratoga Administrators Association union and the Saratoga Springs Administrators Association, allegedly made unauthorized cash withdrawals and checks to himself from the association's account totaling $12,298.63.
According to officials, in October, concerns were raised regarding Mr. Singer's conduct in his role as an elected official of the Saratoga Springs Administrators Association. These allegations were unrelated to his responsibilities as a building principal, his interactions with students, staff, or any misuse of district or taxpayer funds. However, it appears that the alleged misconduct did involve his role as treasurer.
The timeline of events is as follows: on August 4, Singer closed the association's account despite being asked not to; in October, depositions were written by Kevin Wolpert and Johanna Friedman; and on November 5, JPMorgan Chase filed a lawsuit against Singer. On November 13, Scott Singer stepped down from his position as Principal, and during a Board of Education meeting that same day, his resignation was accepted.
Scott Singer's tenure as principal came to an abrupt end following his arrest and subsequent guilty plea in local court. The incident has left many in the community stunned and seeking answers.
