SPECIAL ASSISTANT A.G DEMANDS AUTHORITIES TURN OFF BODYCAMS!

Welcome to Arrest Stories. We're covering the arrest of Devon Hogan Flanagan, a Special Assistant Attorney General, following an incident at a Newport restaurant. Here's what may have happened.

According to police reports, officers responded to Clarke Cooke House on Bannister's Wharf at approximately nine fifty-one p.m. on August fourteenth, twenty twenty-five, after receiving a report of an unwanted party. Restaurant staff allegedly told officers "Anything we can do. Trespass, yes. I just need them out. Please." Flanagan reportedly refused to leave the establishment and was subsequently arrested for willful trespass. During the arrest, Flanagan allegedly shouted "I'm an AG" nearly a dozen times and repeatedly demanded that officers shut off their bodycam cameras, claiming "Protocol is that you turn it off. It's a citizen request that you turn it off." When officers refused, Flanagan reportedly responded "Good for you, I don't give a [explicit language]" and allegedly told officers "You're going to regret this."

The situation allegedly escalated when Flanagan's companion, Veronica Hannan, was also arrested. According to police reports, Hannan slipped out of her handcuffs once during the incident and kicked at the police car door while screaming at officers. A crowd reportedly formed on Bannister's Wharf as the incident unfolded. Flanagan was given a court summons rather than being taken to jail, despite allegedly invoking her title as Special Assistant Attorney General in what appeared to be an attempt to receive preferential treatment from the responding officers.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
