Welcome to Arrest Stories. A South Lake Tahoe Mayor Pro Tem finds himself behind bars after allegedly threatening to have an employee killed during a heated confrontation at a Nevada bar. Here's what may have happened.
On September twenty-fifth, forty-four-year-old Cody Bass was arrested at Lake Tahoe AleWorx in Stateline on charges of assault, harassment, and trespassing. According to official reports, Bass had been previously banned from the establishment, but that didn't stop him from returning that evening.
The incident unfolded just before midnight when Bass approached an employee near the bar's back patio entrance. Despite being told to leave due to his previous ban, Bass allegedly made a chilling threat, telling the worker "he was going to have people kill him." The confrontation escalated when Bass left the premises only to return approximately twenty minutes later.
Upon his return, witnesses and video surveillance captured Bass allegedly cocking his arm as if preparing to strike the employee. In what appeared to be an act of self-defense, the employee kicked Bass away from the entrance.
Interestingly, Bass himself later reported being kicked by a bouncer, but statements from witnesses and surveillance footage indicated that Bass was the primary aggressor throughout the encounter. The establishment had previously trespassed Bass, meaning he was legally prohibited from returning to the property.
Following his arrest, Bass was booked into Douglas County jail and released several hours later on one thousand nine hundred seventy-eight dollars bond. The incident marks another legal challenge for the public official, who had previously been sentenced for DUI charges in May of twenty twenty-three.
When reached for comment, Bass downplayed the severity of the situation, stating "It wasn't that big of a deal, really." However, he later expressed confidence in the legal process, saying "I can guarantee my community I did nothing wrong, I believe in due process, bring on the trial."
All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
