An off-duty police lieutenant later spotted the distinctive vehicle at Haleiwa Beach Park. "He witnessed the driver walk into the brush, followed shortly by the arrival of HFD responding to a new fire," investigators revealed. "The lieutenant then observed the male walk out of the brush area where the fire started."
The evidence mounted quickly. State fire marshal photographs allegedly showed Vierra igniting fires, while accelerant detection canines made multiple alerts. "Investigators located multiple alerts for ignitable substances both on the vehicle and on the clothing that we recovered from Vierra," officials stated.
