On Friday, Zaquan Shaquez Jamison contacted Charleston County dispatch with a stunning announcement - he wanted to turn himself in on outstanding warrants. The twenty-year-old had been flagged as armed and dangerous in connection with the fatal shooting of Ja'Mereion Crawford at his Boo Circle home in Santee back in January.
According to official reports, the incident occurred on January thirteenth when twenty-seven rounds were allegedly fired from a handgun through a window of the victim's residence. Other people were present in the home during the shooting. Santee Police identified Jamison as their suspect on August fourteenth, and remarkably, he surrendered just one day later.
What makes this case particularly unusual is Jamison's physical condition. The suspect sustained severe burn injuries in an October twenty twenty-three vehicle crash, leaving him with extensive facial scarring and missing one hand below the wrist. During his arrest, Jamison made bold claims about his innocence.
"These hands are fractured," Jamison stated. "I would like to state, my parents are going to be filing a lawsuit because I am a burn victim and these hands are fractured, these hands can't pull a trigger, they can't even bend, just bringing it to your attention."
Jamison cooperated fully with officers' commands and was transferred from Al Cannon Detention Center to Santee Police custody. He faces charges including murder, possession of a weapon while committing a violent crime, and ten counts of attempted murder.
