According to police reports, Mikeviyon Boyd, age nineteen, was involved in a verbal argument with his eighteen-year-old girlfriend when the dispute escalated into violence.
The domestic disagreement between the young couple turned deadly when Boyd allegedly shot his girlfriend in the head during the heated exchange. The eighteen-year-old woman was left critically injured from the gunshot wound.
Following the shooting incident, Boyd fled the scene on foot, prompting a search by law enforcement. Police reports indicate that after Boyd shot his girlfriend, a homeowner at the location took the gun away from Boyd and began shooting at him, causing Boyd to run from the area.
Tulsa Police Department deployed helicopters to assist in locating the suspect. The aerial search proved successful when TPD helicopters spotted Boyd hiding in foliage within a wooded area near the scene of the original incident.
Officers moved in to apprehend the suspect and arrested Boyd without any resistance or further incident. At the time of his arrest, police discovered that Boyd was carrying a backpack that contained a loaded pistol inside.
Boyd faces charges related to domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the Tuesday afternoon shooting. The critically injured eighteen-year-old victim's current condition has not been disclosed by authorities.
The incident highlights the dangerous escalation that can occur during domestic disputes, transforming a verbal argument between the couple into a life-threatening situation. Boyd was taken into custody and processed on the assault charges stemming from the West Tulsa shooting incident.
