On Friday, May fifteenth, twenty twenty-six, Gabriela Gonzalez, known to her followers as Gabbie Gonzalez, was taken into custody at the Humboldt County airport in McKinleyville, California. Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal confirmed the arrest, stating, She had an arrest warrant for conspiracy to commit murder. She was in Humboldt County and she had a ticket for an outgoing flight. I do not know her destination.
Gonzalez, twenty-four years old, boasts over four hundred twenty-seven thousand followers across two TikTok accounts and four hundred seventy-three thousand on Instagram, where her content focuses on lifestyle, travel, and motherhood. She was subsequently transferred to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office, which received her Monday afternoon. She is being held without bail.
On Tuesday, May nineteenth, Gonzalez appeared in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom wearing a blue hoodie and handcuffs. Her attorney did not enter a plea, requesting additional time to review evidence. The judge continued the arraignment to Thursday and set bail at two million dollars.
Prosecutors allege the plot stretches back to at least April twenty twenty-one, rooted in a bitter custody dispute over Lavender, the seven-year-old daughter Gonzalez shares with Jack Avery, a member of the boy band Why Don't We. According to prosecutors, Gonzalez allegedly wanted Avery killed so she would not have to share custody of their daughter.
Her then-boyfriend, Kai Faron Cordrey, allegedly received ten thousand dollars from Gonzalez's father, Francisco Gonzalez, in April twenty twenty-one, described in financial records as payment for web-development services. Cordrey later told investigators no such services were ever performed. Two months later, Cordrey requested an additional four thousand dollars. Several days after that, Cordrey reportedly asked that Avery be killed within days.
That September, a federal undercover agent posing as a hitman spoke with Cordrey, who revealed Avery as the target, discussed payment, and requested proof of death.
Francisco Gonzalez, fifty-nine, a civil trial lawyer from Florida, was arrested in Seminole County on Monday on an out-of-state California warrant and is awaiting extradition. A witness told investigators Francisco had said words to the effect that it would be cheaper if Avery were dead.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman stated, This was a lengthy investigation that was initiated by the FBI and eventually turned over to our office, resulting in criminal charges being filed today. Most fathers raise their children to respect the law, but here we have a dad who allegedly helped his daughter and her boyfriend break the law in the most sinister way imaginable.
In September twenty twenty-five, Avery appeared on the Zach Sang Show podcast and revealed, The FBI showed up at my door. I stayed in my house for like a month straight, I didn't leave. I was so scared, I was looking out of my window every night.
Following the arrests, a judge approved a temporary restraining order requiring Gonzalez to remain at least one hundred yards from Avery and their daughter Lavender at all times.
