VETERAN JAILERS 24-YEAR CAREER ENDS OVER HONEY BUNS

Welcome to Arrest Stories. A twenty-four year veteran Morgan County jailer faces seven felony extortion charges after allegedly threatening inmates to take their property, including honey buns used as disciplinary tools. Here's what may have happened.

Forty-seven year old Jarvis Moore, a former Morgan County jailer with over two decades of service, turned himself in on Friday following a grand jury indictment on seven counts of extortion. The charges stem from an investigation that occurred in August, focusing on Moore's alleged use of threats against inmates to obtain their property.

According to court documents, Moore threatened inmates in order to take their property while working at the Morgan County jail. Officials stated that Moore threatened physical harm to obtain property from victims and allegedly made threats to commit acts to cause substantial harm to victims' health, safety, financial condition, reputation, or personal relationships.

The investigation centers around Moore's alleged use of honey buns and candy as disciplinary tools with inmates. One official explained the jail had a long-standing policy where they would utilize honey buns or candy, something important to the inmates, to get them to do things as a form of punishment.

Moore was terminated from his position in September after officials told him the firing was for taking honey buns and store items from inmates. However, the indictments do not specify the exact threats made or the specific property allegedly taken.

Moore maintains his innocence, stating he is diabetic and doesn't eat honey buns. His defense argues the honey buns were given to other inmates for cleanup duties and used as a tool to maintain order in the jail. Moore claims the charges are retaliatory, saying he just wants people to know that he didn't do this and it is killing him to be plastered all over the world.

Moore is scheduled to face a judge on May twenty-seventh. The case involves a one point five million dollar bond amount.

All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
