Heather Brooke Clarke found herself in handcuffs outside a McDonald's restaurant Thursday morning after allegedly posting graphic threats against McMichael High School students during a live social media stream broadcast directly from the school's campus.
According to authorities, Clarke entered the Dalton McMichael High School parking lot Thursday morning and remained on the property for approximately fifteen minutes. During that time, she never entered the building but streamed a live video on social media, making what officials described as extremely disturbing threats against students.
Campus administrators and the school resource officer quickly spotted the threatening livestream and immediately called for an investigation. Students were placed on a brief precautionary lockdown while law enforcement responded to the scene.
"The threats that were made were so graphic that I can't say it on TV," one official stated, emphasizing the severity of Clarke's alleged statements.
Community members also contacted authorities after seeing the threatening posts, providing crucial tips that helped track Clarke's location. Within forty-five minutes of receiving the initial reports, deputies had located and arrested Clarke at a McDonald's restaurant approximately half a mile from the school campus.
"These school shootings around the country and other violence — we will not tolerate that in Rockingham County," authorities declared, highlighting their zero-tolerance approach to such threats.
Clarke's arrest comes with significant legal baggage. Officials revealed she has previously faced charges including assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, felony drug possession, DWI, child abuse, and communicating threats. She completed probation in twenty twenty-two.
Clarke now faces new charges and has been permanently banned from all Rockingham County School properties. Her bond was set at five hundred thousand dollars.
"When we work together as a team, we can make a difference — and a difference was made yesterday. The kids are safe, the bad guy's in jail, and that person will have their day in court," officials concluded.
