Welcome to Arrest Stories. A twenty three year old woman allegedly snatched a four year old boy from his mother at Miami International Airport, claiming divine instruction before wrapping herself around the child in a disturbing struggle that required witness intervention.
Here's what may have happened.
Tuesday morning at Miami International Airport turned chaotic when Alvina Agba approached a mother struggling with her crying four year old son in the check-in line. According to official reports, Agba offered to help soothe the distressed child, and the trusting mother allowed her to hold her son.
What happened next shocked witnesses and airport staff. While holding the boy, Agba allegedly walked away from the line and the mother, eventually sitting down on the airport floor. When the frantic mother confronted Agba and demanded her child back, Agba made a startling claim.
"She kept shouting, 'This is my child!' while the mother was desperately trying to wrestle him back," one witness reported.
The situation escalated dramatically as Agba wrapped her arms and legs around the four year old to prevent him from moving, physically restraining the child on the floor. When the mother attempted to retrieve her son, Agba pushed her back and grabbed the boy's legs, refusing to release him.
A heroic bystander intervened during the struggle. "I ran over to see what was going on. When I got close, I noticed a woman on the floor, strongly gripping the little boy," the witness stated. "In that moment, I realized the body was in danger. I grabbed him and ran behind the counter and crouched down to protect the boy."
Even then, Agba allegedly pursued the witness, trying to get under the counter to reclaim the child. When police arrived, she fled but was later arrested at another checkpoint.
Perhaps most disturbing was Agba's reported explanation for her actions: "God told her to do it."
Agba faces battery charges and was held on three thousand five hundred dollars bond.
