WOMANS 65-POUND MARIJUANA SMUGGLING PLOT EXPOSED BY ONE TELLTALE SMELL

Welcome to Arrest Stories. A twenty-two-year-old woman was arrested at Miami International Airport after customs officers discovered over one hundred thirty pounds of marijuana in her luggage before an international flight. Here's what may have happened.

On Monday at Miami International Airport in Florida, Begum Mulazimoglu was taken into custody by authorities after attempting to board a Virgin Atlantic flight bound for London. During routine outbound inspection procedures, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from two hard-sided suitcases, one brown and one black.

The baggage tags on both pieces of luggage identified Mulazimoglu as the owner. When officers opened the brown suitcase, they discovered it was filled with black nylon vacuum-sealed packages emitting the distinct smell of marijuana. A subsequent search revealed a total of sixty bundles of marijuana distributed between both suitcases, with thirty bundles in each bag.

The vacuum-sealed marijuana weighed fifty-nine point seven four kilograms, equivalent to one hundred thirty-one point seven pounds. Officers also found two Apple AirTags hidden inside the suitcases among the marijuana bundles.

Mulazimoglu had claimed ownership of the bags before law enforcement discovered their contents. Following her detention, Homeland Security Investigations notified the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office on Monday.

On Tuesday, Mulazimoglu appeared at a bond court hearing. During the proceedings, the judge stated, "It looks like you're charged with illegal trafficking in sixty-five pounds of marijuana. Well, that would be heavy." The judge also noted, "Let's see. It's claimed that you're departing Miami to London, with sixty-five pounds of marijuana in the luggage."

Her defense attorney mentioned that Mulazimoglu "has no priors. She's a young lady." On December twenty-third, Mulazimoglu appeared in court where bond was set at ten thousand dollars.

All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
