Welcome to Arrest Stories.

A man armed with a knife and a water bottle filled with gasoline met his victim in a remote park, leading to a brutal killing that authorities say was premeditated.

Here's what may have happened.

On Monday morning, a jogger discovered the body of Carmen Lizet Puch in a parking lot at Difficult Run Park in Great Falls, Virginia, and called 911. Police say 19-year-old Alexis Antonio Cedillos-Campos had left a restaurant with a fixed blade knife, black latex gloves, and a water bottle. Authorities allege Cedillos-Campos intentionally met Puch in a remote area of the park, stabbed her repeatedly, and doused her in gasoline with the intent to set her on fire. Cedillos-Campos was taken into custody in Maryland within 48 hours of the death. Following his arrest, Cedillos-Campos offered a full confession to Fairfax County police. This is not the first time Cedillos-Campos has been in trouble with law enforcement, as he was previously arrested by border patrol agents in April 2024 after illegally crossing the border near El Paso, Texas. Cedillos-Campos is formally charged with second-degree murder. The Fairfax County Police Department is handling the investigation. Police have not released a specific motive for the killing. All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts.
