Welcome to Arrest Stories. A thirty-three-year-old Canadian tourist was arrested in Las Vegas after allegedly stealing a flamingo from a hotel habitat and torturing the bird in his room. Here's what may have happened.

Mitchell Fairbarn illegally entered the flamingo habitat at the Flamingo Las Vegas resort early Tuesday morning around five o'clock. Video surveillance shows Fairbarn grabbing the first flamingo from the habitat, then capturing a second flamingo named Peachy around five oh seven in the morning before entering an elevator.

Security footage reveals Fairbarn walking through the hotel carrying the flamingo to his room on the fourteenth floor. While trying to pin the bird down, Fairbarn clipped its wing, causing unjustifiable pain to the animal. He injured other birds during the incident as multiple flamingos were pinned down and hurt in the process.

Police discovered disturbing evidence on Fairbarn's cellphone showing multiple videos and pictures of him torturing the flamingo in his hotel room. The footage shows Fairbarn choking the bird by its neck and legs while the flamingo screamed and cried. Additional videos captured Fairbarn throwing the distressed animal to the ground multiple times while laughing about the abuse.

Officers found a large bloody feather and other material in Fairbarn's hotel room. When questioned, Fairbarn claimed he has knowledge about birds because he is a farm boy, stating he knows that popping the wing back into place is a common practice for birds such as ducks.

Fairbarn was arrested and charged with four counts of willful malicious torture, maim, and kill an animal. The charges relate to torturing, maiming or killing an animal kept for companionship or pleasure, with bail set at twelve thousand dollars.

Peachy and the other injured flamingos are currently receiving care from dedicated veterinarians and the Flamingo's animal care team. Hotel officials expressed hope that the birds will make a full recovery from their injuries.
