Joshua Leonard James Himes, thirty six years old, has been arrested and charged with third degree criminal sexual conduct and unlawfully practicing medicine, according to the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office.
Himes had advertised himself professionally and on social media as Doctor Josh Himes, PhD, NRP, and is listed as the owner of Pro Health Place, a functional health and wellness practice based in the Charleston area. The practice had been recognized by Healthlinks magazine as the Best Functional Medicine Practice and Best Health and Life Coach in Charleston in two thousand twenty five, according to their website.
The investigation began when Dorchester County deputies met with a victim regarding allegations of sexual assault. That initial meeting prompted a comprehensive investigation in which detectives collected and analyzed evidence and pursued all available leads.
What investigators uncovered raised serious concerns. According to Dorchester County Sheriff's spokesman Steven Wright, quote, detectives learned that Himes allegedly represented himself as a physician and performed medical examinations. They determined that he does not have a South Carolina medical license nor is he authorized to perform medical examinations, end quote.
Himes, who is also a former All-Americas Champion United States boxer known as the handsome hitman, was taken into custody without incident on a Friday after detectives executed a search warrant at his residence.
Himes was booked into the L.C. Knight Detention Center, where he remains in custody.
The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office has stated the investigation remains active. Officials are urging anyone who may have sought or received medical treatment, consultation, or services from Himes to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at eight four three, eight three two, zero three zero zero.
