Welcome to Arrest Stories. Former NFL running back Tre Mason was arrested in Palm Beach County, Florida, on charges connected to an alleged attack on a pregnant woman. Heres what may have happened.
In the early morning hours of Saturday, July eighteenth, twenty twenty six, thirty two year old Tre Mason was booked at four fourteen a m at the main detention facility in Palm Beach County. The charges listed in the arrest record include aggravated battery on a pregnant victim and simple assault.
Mason appeared in court the following day, July nineteenth, twenty twenty six. During that hearing, the alleged victim took the stand. A judge ordered Mason to have no contact with the woman and granted him a one thousand dollar bond on the aggravated battery charge. On a separate domestic intent count for a threat to do violence, Mason was released on his own recognizance. The aggravated battery case remains pending.
Court records also list a charge of aggravated battery on a pregnant victim alongside the threat to do violence count. As of July nineteenth, the Palm Beach County Clerk of Courts had not made full case filings public, and law enforcement had offered only limited comment.
Under Florida law, specifically Florida Statute seven eight four point zero four five, aggravated battery against a pregnant person is classified as a second degree felony when the offender knew or should have known about the pregnancy. The statute also provides for sentencing enhancements when additional aggravating factors are present.
Mason is no stranger to the Palm Beach County area. He attended Park Vista High School in the Lake Worth area before starring at Auburn University, where he led the SEC in rushing in twenty thirteen, earned first team All American honors, was a Heisman Trophy finalist, and broke Bo Jacksons single season rushing record for the Tigers. He was selected in the third round of the twenty fourteen NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams, rushing for over seven hundred yards as a rookie before his usage declined in his second season.
Mason has had prior legal troubles. In March of twenty sixteen, he was arrested in Hollywood, Florida for reckless driving, resisting arrest, and possession of marijuana among other charges. On January tenth, twenty seventeen, he was arrested in connection with a July twenty seventh, twenty sixteen ATV incident in Lake Worth Beach. He later pleaded guilty to resisting arrest in twenty eighteen and was sentenced to twelve months of probation, ordered to complete seventy five hours of community service, and credited with two days of time served.
