On the night of July twenty-sixth, Stedman Bailey, thirty-five, of Miramar, and Karina Manderson, thirty-five, of Pembroke Pines, were at Round One Bowling and Arcade inside Pembroke Lakes Mall in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Just before twelve thirty in the morning on July twenty-seventh, Pembroke Pines Police Department officers responded to the venue after receiving reports of two people engaging in sexual activity at the bar.
When officers arrived, Bailey and Manderson had already been detained. The bar's manager provided surveillance footage that allegedly showed the two actively engaged in sexual activity while other customers were nearby. A witness told investigators she saw the pair having intercourse and asked them to stop. At that point, Bailey pulled up his pants and the two slowly left the bar area.
When speaking with investigators, Bailey admitted that both he and Manderson had their pants down and that he was exposing himself, though he insisted that penetration never took place. Manderson told officers she had consumed too much alcohol and did not remember the incident. Both admitted to drinking multiple shots at the bar. Police said there was no evidence to suggest their drinks had been tampered with. Bailey estimated they each had approximately two to three shots.
Both Bailey and Manderson were arrested on July twenty-seventh and each charged with one misdemeanor count of exposure of sexual organs. Both pleaded not guilty and were released after posting bond.
Manderson's attorney, Evan Hoffman, shared a statement with NBC Miami on August sixth, saying, it is premature to expand on the facts or exclude any potential defenses that may be available. This is a very personal situation that should be treated with care.
Bailey played college football at West Virginia University before the St. Louis Rams selected him in the third round of the two thousand thirteen NFL Draft. He appeared in thirty-eight games, recording fifty-nine receptions for eight hundred forty-three yards and two touchdowns. His NFL career was cut short in November two thousand fifteen when unknown assailants opened fire on a vehicle he was sitting in alongside family members in Miami Gardens. Bailey was struck twice in the head, underwent emergency surgery, and never returned to professional football.
