Welcome to Arrest Stories.

A man's violent text messages and a deleted history left one woman dead on a Missouri highway.

Here's what may have happened.

Police have identified the suspect as Jeremy Perrien. In April 2025, Perrien sent messages to Shelby Perrien threatening her and hoping for her suicide. Video obtained by the Southeast Missourian shows Perrien arguing with and physically abusing Shelby Perrien in May 2025. On June 29, 2025, Shelby Perrien was found dead in a car on Interstate 55 in Scott County. Perrien admitted to deleting text messages from both cell phones, citing the arguing as the reason. The incident occurred in Stoddard County, Missouri, and was handled by the Scott County Sheriff's Office. On August 21, 2026, Jeremy Perrien was taken into custody by Missouri Highway Patrol officers. Authorities allege Perrien is formally charged with second-degree murder, felony harassment, second-degree domestic assault, and tampering with physical evidence. All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts.
