Welcome to Arrest Stories.

A Sarasota man forced his way into an apartment where people were sleeping, then stabbed a woman he knew in the neck with a screwdriver.

Here's what may have happened.

The incident took place at the Applegate Apartments in Sarasota, Florida. Police identified the suspect as 32-year-old Josue Zepeda-Urbina, a resident of Sarasota. Early that morning, officers responded to a report of an unresponsive woman at the apartment complex. Later that morning, fire department personnel pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Authorities allege Zepeda-Urbina forced entry into the apartment while multiple people were inside. Police say he stabbed the woman in the neck with a screwdriver. A witness familiar with both the suspect and the victim helped identify him as the perpetrator. A Flock camera alert flagged his silver Nissan Sentra, leading officers to track the vehicle. Early the next morning, police stopped the car near the intersection of Beneva Road and Fruitville Road and arrested him. He is formally charged with murder and three counts of burglary of an occupied dwelling. Zepeda-Urbina is being held at the Sarasota County Jail without bond. Police have not released the victim's identity, the specific cause of death, or a motive. All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts.
