Welcome to Arrest Stories.

Police say a mother allegedly locked herself inside a Mandan home with her three children and threatened to kill them, leaving two dead and one severely injured.

Here's what may have happened.

Officers were dispatched to the scene Thursday evening after reports of the assault. Upon arriving, police forced entry and discovered three young children with severe injuries. Kailey Erhart was taken into custody at the scene. The five-month-old victim was pronounced dead at a local hospital later that evening. The three-year-old victim died the following morning at a medical center. The suspect, Kailey Erhart, appeared in court Friday for an initial hearing. She is formally charged with two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, and multiple counts of aggravated assault and terrorizing. Additional charges include counts of domestic violence and child abuse. A judge set her bond at three million dollars cash due to the extreme violence of the alleged charges. Police have not released a motive for the attack or the specific condition of the surviving child. All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
