FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — A man has been arrested and preliminarily charged after attempting to kidnap a 13-year-old girl in TJ Maxx Monday night.

In a press release from Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD), Friday, 19-year-old Caleb Rush was arrested and preliminary charged with Criminal Confinement, a Level 5 Felony and Battery to Minor under 14, a Level 6 Felony.

Rush was initially wanted for walking up behind a 13-year-old and putting his arms around her while she was shopping at TJ Maxx — at Northcrest Shopping Center — on Monday evening.

Rush was arrested around 2:10 p.m. on foot in the area of N. Coliseum Boulevard and Delaware Avenue.

In the release, the FWPD said they would, “Like to thank the media and the public for the outpouring of information that helped lead to the arrest!”

Rush, based on preliminary charges, could face a max of 8 and a half years.
