A traveler at a busy airport made a shocking claim about bombs before attempting to leave, prompting an immediate police response.

Here's what may have happened.

The incident took place inside Terminal 4 near Gate G5 at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Authorities identified the suspect involved in the incident as Michael Ryan Knight. On Tuesday evening, Knight approached a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer and stated that he had bombs. Knight then claimed he was joking and attempted to walk away toward Gate G2 to board his flight. The officer stopped him when he tried to leave and held him until deputies arrived. Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived to detain the suspect and observed him exhibiting extremely intoxicated behavior. After being read his Miranda rights, Knight told a detective that he had consumed four alcoholic beverages inside the terminal. Knight was arrested and booked into the Broward County Jail. He is formally charged with making a false report concerning a bomb, explosive or weapon of mass destruction and disorderly intoxication in a public place. All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts.
