Welcome to Arrest Stories.

A mother of four left her children home alone for days to fly to Las Vegas, but police say she walked right into custody the moment her plane touched down in Florida.

Here's what may have happened.

The suspect is identified as Irene Miller, a 50-year-old mother from Kissimmee. On October 18, Miller departed for Las Vegas for work, leaving her four children, aged 9 to 14, unattended at their home. Miller told deputies she had arranged for a babysitter to check on the kids in the mornings and after school, but did not require the sitter to stay overnight. On October 21, authorities received a 911 call from a juvenile reporting that her 9-year-old brother had been injured when a dumbbell fell on his head. Deputies responded to the Parkway Boulevard apartment and found the four children without any adult supervision. The injured child was transported to a hospital and later released, while the children's father agreed to take custody of all four siblings. Police contacted Miller by phone, and she stated she was working in Las Vegas and planned to return on October 23. On October 23, Miller landed in Florida and was met by detectives on the jet bridge at Orlando International Airport. Body camera video released by authorities shows Miller being cuffed and taken into custody as she exited the plane. Miller is formally charged with four counts of child neglect without great bodily harm. The case is handled by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office. She was booked into the Orange County Jail following her arrest. All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts.
