On Friday, May twenty ninth, twenty twenty six, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, thirty six year old DeAndre Kane was taken into custody at Pittsburgh International Airport after arriving on a flight from Iceland. The Allegheny County Sheriffs Office, the Allegheny County Police Department, and the United States Department of State had coordinated the arrest in advance. As the sheriffs office stated, quote, detectives from our office this week, with the assistance of the Allegheny County Police Department and the United States Department of State, developed information that Kane would be returning to Pittsburgh Friday from Iceland, end quote.

Investigators met Kane at the airport as he deplaned and took him into custody without incident. Kane cooperated with officers at the time of his arrest. He was then transported to the Allegheny County Jail, where he was held to await a hearing in Family Court.

According to the Allegheny County Sheriffs Office, Kane had been classified as a fugitive since two thousand twenty three, after he failed to appear for a Family Court hearing connected to missed child support payments. Authorities say the unpaid child support has climbed past one hundred thousand dollars.

Kane is a Pittsburgh native and a former standout at Schenley High School, where he led the team to a City League basketball championship in two thousand eight. He went on to play college basketball before turning professional in two thousand fourteen, building a lengthy overseas career that included stops across multiple countries. At the time of his arrest, Kane had been living in Iceland while continuing his professional basketball career there.

Allegheny County Sheriff Kevin M. Kraus announced the arrest publicly on Saturday, May thirtieth, twenty twenty six. Kane remains in custody at the Allegheny County Jail pending his Family Court appearance, where a judge will determine next steps regarding the outstanding child support case.
