HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — One teen was arrested after displaying a knife during a high school prom, authorities say.

According to the Harlingen Police Department, the 17-year-old was arrested for aggravated assault after displaying a knife.

The incident occurred on Saturday evening at the Harlingen South High School Prom held at Casa De Amistad. Authorities say the incident occurred outside the building.

No injuries were reported and no guns were involved in the incident.

The teen is not a student at Harlingen South or any Harlingen CISD school and was not a participant in the event, investigators say.

This is an ongoing investigation.
