A father’s home was consumed by flames in Orange County, leaving his son to face a manhunt and murder charges.

Here's what may have happened.

The incident took place at a residence on Greenville Turnpike in the town of Greenville, Orange County. On August 6th, emergency crews responded to the structure fire and found Robert Ryan dead inside. Police determined the fire was deliberately set and began investigating the death as a homicide. Authorities identified the suspect in the case as Thomas David Ryan. The New York State Police captured Ryan in Gilboa after receiving a tip about an unoccupied Toyota Prius. Ryan was taken to Westchester Medical Center due to injuries sustained prior to his arrest. An official stated that Ryan has burns over at least 18 percent of his body. Police allege that Ryan set the fire to the home and killed his father. Ryan is formally charged with murder in the second degree, arson in the third degree, and related offenses. Police have not released a motive for the crime or the exact cause of death. All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
